1 – Syntax check<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Here we check whether the email to be verified conforms to the expected email standard: conformity of the username part, conformity of the domain and extension, and absence of unauthorized characters in the email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2 – Domain verification<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Not all Internet domains accept e-mail! To enable reception, you first need to check whether the domain actually exists (or whether it has since been deleted), and also whether specific fields called MX (mail exchange) are present in the DNS. The absence of this element blocks the reception of all emails sent to the domain, so it is a very important element to consider. The verification also looks at the domain’s age and other specific features, enabling us to judge the level of trust placed in the domain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3 – Detection of receiving specificities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Some domains are configured in a specific mode and accept all emails sent to them without distinction: these are known as “catchall” or “accept all” domains, or “protected” domains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Detecting them and classifying them into different levels makes it possible to weight the level of trust accorded to these emails, and to detect those most likely to be real users or, on the contrary, bots (with lower commercial value).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4 – Email address verification (SMTP step)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

An essential step in email verification, this is where the SMTP server of the destination domain is queried directly to determine the status of the tested mailbox. Don’t worry, this step is completely transparent, and never sends any email (the persons concerned are never informed that their address has been checked). This is a tricky stage, as some servers return unsuitable SMTP codes, which explains why some low-cost\/low-quality solutions sometimes give results that are the opposite of reality!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5 – More detailed sub-classification of valid emails<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
